About
our founder
Hello!
I’m Rebekah Nigro—the founder of Comma & Quill, a middle school English teacher, and a passionate advocate for young writers.
I bring six years of classroom experience, including three years as the sole English teacher for grades 6–12 at a private school and three years focused exclusively on 7th grade. While I’m certified to teach grades 6–12, my specialty, and my heart, is in middle school. I love helping students develop their skills in grammar, writing, and literature. I bring a student-centered approach to every lesson.
Outside the classroom, I’m currently writing my first novel. I also founded the Creative Writing Club at my school, which continues to thrive years later—with some students staying on well into high school. Working with students on their own creative writing projects is one of the greatest joys of my career.
I became a teacher because I remember how hard middle school was—the boredom, the drama, and the feeling that nothing we were learning mattered. I strive to be the teacher I wish I’d had: someone who not only supports students academically but also shows up for them as a mentor and guide. I believe strong relationships and intentional, interest-based instruction are the key to helping students grow—not just as writers, but as people.
That same care and intentionality now drive everything I offer through Comma & Quill. Whether your child needs help with schoolwork or wants to find their voice on the page, I’m here to support them every step of the way.
